Parish Resources for CCHD annual collection, November 21-22, 2020
The annual Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) Collection will be taken this coming weekend, November 21-22. This collection funds organizations that address the root causes of poverty through community organizing and economic development projects with low-income people in the East Bay and across the United States. Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the need is greater this year than ever to support the groups doing this critical work in our communities.
Your parish should have already received promotional materials, by U.S. Mail, from the CCHD national office, like envelopes and posters, as well as from the CCHD diocesan office, which included bulletin and pulpit announcements. These collection materials, in both English and Spanish, can also be found on the diocesan CCHD website atwww.CCHDEastBay.org.
This year we are offering several new resources to assist you in promoting this collection during the COVID-19 Pandemic. They are:
A video of a homily for the CCHD Collection Sunday, November 22nd, by Fr. Jayson Landeza.
A brief video about CCHD-funded Youth Spirit Artworks that can be used at the end of the homily on collection Sunday. They have nearly completed building 26 tiny houses as part of their 100 Homes for Homeless Youth Campaign.
Also available are a 3 minute and a 6 minute video that feature some of the recent East Bay CCHD grant recipients telling their stories of empowerment and transformation. These can be found on the diocesan CCHD website at www.CCHDEastBay.org.
The most important way to promote the CCHD Collection is to make a special announcement during mass, so that those participating from home will be aware of the collection.
Let parishioners know that they can donate by writing a check to the parish with “For CCHD” in the memo line or by going online to the diocesan CCHD website atwww.CCHDEastBay.org.
