The Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) is now accepting proposals for 2022-2023 CCHD National Grants to fund East Bay parishes and non-profit groups engaged in community organizing and/or economic development projects with low-income residents. Grants from $25,000 to $75,000 will be awarded next summer.
The Catholic Campaign for Human Development is the U. S. Catholic Bishops’ primary social justice program that addresses the root causes of injustice and poverty in our country. It does this through funding groups that are enabling low-income people to advocate to bring about structural change that improves their lives and the lives of their neighbors. They address conditions of poverty in critical areas such as community development, housing, economic and racial justice, health care, education and legal aid. CCHD funds are raised through an annual collection in Catholic parishes across the country each November. Seventy-five percent of these funds are sent to the national office to be distributed to these grassroots organizations in our diocese and elsewhere. For more information about CCHD, please go to their website at Catholic Campaign for Human Development | USCCB.
For any parishes that are interested, a pre-application must be submitted on the CCHD website. The deadline for submission is Monday, November 1st, 2021.
To learn more about the application process, please contact the diocesan CCHD office at [email protected] or at 510-768-3176.
