In celebration of the Jubilee Year of Hope which officially starts this Advent, the Filipino priests and deacons of the Diocese of Oakland invite all to join them at the opening Mass for the 2024 Simbang Gabi season on Dec. 14, 11 a.m. at St. Raymond Church in Dublin.
Aptly embracing the theme: “Si Kristo, Pag-asa sa Pagkakaisa (Christ, our Hope for Unity), this is the 12th year the Filipino-American communities in the Diocese will celebrate this beautiful tradition that traces its roots back in the Philippines, and now finds its fruits in the lives of Filipinos and non-Filipinos alike in the parishes where the dawn (or evening) Masses are celebrated.
Bishop Michael Barber, SJ, will be the principal celebrant at the opening Mass, which will be followed by a festive reception hosted by various Fil-Am communities and devotional groups from within the Diocese.
All are invited to join. Wear your Filipiniana and barong; bring your parish banner and parol (lantern); and be ready to be serenaded with Christmas songs by your Filipino clergy and friends!
