Sept. 17
Spanish Organ Concert – Old Mission San José
Old Mission San José, 43300 Mission Blvd., Fremont, will host a free organ concert, Viva La Mexico, showcasing the magnificent Rosales Opus 14 organ on Sept. 17. The program celebrates the intertwined cultures of Mexico and Spain through the secular and sacred organ music of the 17th century within the inspiring and acoustically pure Old Mission Church.
Ronald McKean, director of music ministries for St Joseph Church and Mission San Jose, will give a pre-concert talk at 7 p.m. explain how the Rosales organ, one of only three in the United States, authentically renders the music of this time and place in history. The 7:30 p.m. concert is presented as part of the celebration of Mission San Jose’s 225th anniversary. Reception to follow.
All donations will go toward the Mission Restoration Fund. Those planning to attend should go to: mission225.org/music-and-concerts for more detailed information.
