Solemnity of Mary, the Holy Mother of God

The Solemnity of Mary, the Holy Mother of God, is celebrated this year on a Saturday. Therefore, it is NOT a Holy Day of Obligation. While it retains the liturgical rank of "Solemnity," the obligation to attend Mass is not attached to this day. Even though the obligation is abrogated, the faithful are still encouraged to attend Mass to celebrate this Mystery of our Faith.
