Many people are struggling with how to remain in authentic relationship with family and friends who see the world very differently. This retreat provides concrete skills for being instruments of peace, seekers of understanding, and agents of active love in relational divisions that are in deep need of healing. It draws on recent research in neurobiology, social psychology, empathy studies, and moral psychology, along with formational principles from the fields of chaplaincy, clinical pastoral education, and spiritual direction. Participants integrate the four core pillars of the dialogue practice through small group work, verbatims, and application of the techniques between sessions. We also reflect on the spiritual dimension of this work, and how it's not uncommon to feel "something bigger" flowing through us as we connect with another human being at this deeper level, even in the midst of polarized topics.
