Location:St. Anthony-Mary Help of Christians Parish
Please join us in the fight against human trafficking. Bishop Michael C. Barber, SJ and the faithful of the Diocese of Oakland are holding a prayer vigil in support of the International Day of Prayer and Awareness Against Human Trafficking.
The Diocese of Oakland is holding this vigil at St. Anthony Parish's campus, which includes a school, to focus attention on the increased crime in the neighborhood resulting from the trafficking of young men and women drawn into prostitution. Unfortunately, this activity often takes place in front of a K-8 school, exposing large numbers of children, families, caregivers, teachers, staff and visitors to increased risks to their safety. As a community, we must do everything in our power to help these trafficked individuals find their way out of exploitation, while ensuring the resources needed to protect and safeguard Oakland neighborhoods.
