We will commemorate the feast of the first canonized Filipino saint, Lorenzo Ruiz de Manila, on September 28, 2024. Three of our priests from the Diocese of Oakland - Father Ken Sales, Father Jimmy Macalinao and Father Erick Villa, attended the planning meeting of the National Association of Filipino Priests in the USA, whose purpose is four-fold: to build and strengthen the bonds of unity among Filipino catholic priests for mutual help and support; to provide a forum for dialogue, communication and sharing of resources on matters related to the priestly ministry; to promote the personal and ministerial growth of the members; and to support programs and needs of all intercultural catholic populations in Church parishes and dioceses in the United States.
The six (6) arch/dioceses in Northern California (San Francisco, Oakland, San Jose, Santa Rosa and Stockton) will jointly host the national assembly in 2026.
