Very Reverend Brandon E. Macadaeg, Rector at Cathedral of Christ the Light, shares the following update:
Please join us in welcoming Melissa Vlach as the new Office Manager of the Cathedral of Christ the Light.
Melissa is responsible for providing the administrative and secretarial support to the Cathedral office, as well as to the parish of St. Leo the Great. Besides overseeing all the systems and standard operating procedures for the good working order of the Cathedral Parish Office, Melissa is the first point of contact in welcoming visitors to the Parish Office, assisting our mission partners such as you. She may be contacted at extension 214 or via e-mail at mvlach@oakdiocese.org
Melissa is a native of the Bay Area and holds a degree summa cum laude in Linguistics from St. Mary's College in Moraga. Besides English, she is fluent in Spanish and proficient in Italian.
She has a decade of experience in parish office management, having worked at a large parish in the Sacramento diocese. Most recently, Melissa was the Social Action and Digital Media Coordinator at the Chancery of the Archdiocese of San Francisco. Outside of work, Melissa volunteers and serves on the Board of the Kateri Tekakawitha Fund, a nonprofit organization focused on women's education and employment in Guatemala. In her spare time, Melissa likes to be hike in nature and is also an excellent baker.
I am so proud to have Melissa join our staff at the Cathedral and St. Leo and I am confident that she will bring a level of excellence to our office operations as we grow and seek to restore the Apostolic identity of our parishioners.
As you know, phase one of the MAP process clustered the Cathedral Parish, St. Leo Parish, and St. Patrick Parish. The office of St. Patrick's parish will continue to be operated at the Peralta St. Campus (St. Patrick's rectory), with Rosario Trujillo remaining as office manager and parish secretary there. However, the office of St. Leo Parish is now fully operated by the Cathedral Parish office located at 2121 Harrison Street, Suite 130. The St. Leo Parish office is no longer operational at the Ridgeway Avenue Campus. All St. Leo Parish business should be directed to the Cathedral Office. Effectively the entire Cathedral staff function as the staff of St. Leo Parish too.
