Rick Medeiros, chancellor of the Diocese of Oakland, has announced that Bishop Michael C. Barber, SJ has appointed Terri Porter as director of the Office of Mission Advancement. "Many already know her as the director of Family Aid Catholic Education (FACE)," Medeiros said in an email introducing her to the diocese's pastors on Feb. 8. 'She is continuing in that role, and we are grateful she is bringing her deep commitment to our faith and our Diocese, along with her professional expertise, to help build up our OMA and the Bishop’s Ministries Appeal,"
Porter grew up as a fifth-generation Catholic in the heart of southern Louisiana. She said she leans on her family’s principles of faith, service, and dedication to allow her to have a life “close to God, the Church and my core values both personally and professionally.”
She will be working closely with our priests, chancery staff and clergy in her new role and will soon be providing information on the launch of the Bishop’s Ministries Appeal for 2024.
“Serving as the Director of the FACE program brought me joy, purpose, and helped me serve as an integral advocate of Catholic education for those most in need,” Porter said. ‘I am excited to deepen my connection to Oakland-area Catholic families and the Diocese at a higher level and look forward to this next chapter of service."
"I know we will be blessed by Terri’s faith and dedication. And I thank everone for welcoming her and for our collective commitment to a successful Bishop’s Ministries Appeal, which will help us flourish,” Medeiros said.
