Vocation Awareness Month, An Invitation from Fr. Carl Arcosa

Then Jesus said to His disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into His harvest” (Mt. 9:38).

National Vocation Awareness Week will be celebrated in the United States from Nov. 3-9, 2024. Please pray to our Lord for more dedicated, holy priests, deacons, consecrated men and women, and lay leaders in service to the Church.

Cultivating vocations starts in our homes, schools, and parishes. They are the seedbeds of religious and priestly vocations. As the people of God, we are called to be promoters of vocations in our communities.

This November, I humbly ask you to pray for an increase in vocations in our diocese and our parishes.

How to Promote Vocations in Your Parish:

1. SHARE:  This inspirational video "How pursuing a Vocation is Filled with Joy" 
2. PRAYER: Pray for and support those called to religious vocations. Offer a Mass, make a holy adoration to the Blessed Sacrament, and recite a Rosary.
3. REFLECTION: Reflect on your own vocation and how it gives meaning to your life.
4. ENCOURAGEMENT: Encourage young people to consider how God may be calling them to serve.
5. AFFIRMATION: Affirm the gifts and talents of others.
6. DINNER: Host a parish vocations dinner with clergy and young people. Invite a religious and a priest to share their vocation stories.
7. LESSON PLANS: Use vocation worksheets, stories of service, or lesson plans from the USCCB website.
