St. Mary's College High School hires Azure'D Nunley to lead as President

After performing additional due diligence for each candidate, our process paused for four weeks to respect the candidates’ previous school commitments. We then further engaged and ensured that all necessary steps were enacted, and the Board of Trustees unanimously agreed that Azure’D would best fit the needs of Saint Mary’s and her community. Ms. Nunley stated, “I am deeply honored and humbled to serve as the next President of Saint Mary’s College High School. The Brothers, Trustees, parents, alumni, benefactors, and students themselves encompass a community very special to me. The Saint Mary’s community rests on a strong Lasallian foundation, under the exceptional leadership of Mr. Puck, Dr. Imperial and the entire faculty and staff. I am excited to continue this great work with our community.”

As Board Chair, I am grateful to the other members of the Search Committee who worked with me on the selection of the President - Board of Trustee members Gery Short, Bill Rauch, June McDaniels, James Jordan and our consultant Carol Enright. We would also like to thank Mike Daniels, Ed. D., and Maria Ribera from the De La Salle Institute for all their help and guidance throughout this journey. Finally, I offer a special thanks to David Topete, who chaired the President Search Committee and worked tirelessly each step of the way.
We are confident that Azure’D’s selection will continue to strengthen Saint Mary’s’ tradition of academic excellence, its Lasallian Catholic legacy, and its long-term sustainability. Once again I acknowledge outgoing President Lawrence Puck ’78 AFSC for his decades of service to Saint Mary’s and together we ask you to please join us in congratulating Azure’D as she assumes her new role on July 1. We look forward to a successful conclusion to the school year in the months ahead.
