Act Now to Achieve Solar Energy Savings
The diocese’s solar energy program enables parishes and school to implement rooftop solar energy projects and achieve significant energy bill savings with no upfront costs. The 16 parishes and schools that have participated will save $8.2 million dollars over the life of their solar systems compared to paying PG&E for the same electricity.
However, the state public utilities commission is considering changes to how PG&E reimburses customers for energy generated by solar systems. These changes are likely to be less financially attractive than the current rules. To lock in the favorable current rules, interested parishes and schools will need to make decisions quickly and submit applications to PG&E by December.
Please contact the diocese’s solar energy program manager Bill Utic, chair of the Diocesan Finance Council, at [email protected] for more information and assistance.
