May 8, June 3 and June 4:
Three very special online benefit concerts for Ukraine,
featuring some very special performers (listed below). Our hearts and minds continue to be with the people of Ukraine so we are doing the only thing we (as musicians) can think of, and that's to Make More Music! Ukraine's President Zelenskyy had this to say about music, when he spoke (virtually) at the recent Grammy awards:
"....bombs bring horrible silence. Dead silence. Fill that silence with your music. Fill it today, to tell our story".
LFL is doing just that, and we hope you will join us!
Sunday May 8th @4:00pm Pacific Time:
Cellist Emil Miland, with pianist/organist Jerome Lenk, performing a selection of both contemporary (Bay Area) and classical composers in their annual "Mothers Day" concert, this time dedicated to the mothers of Ukraine.
Live venue: Mission Dolores Basilica, S.F. California and Livestreamed on the FB channel of Mission Dolores Basilica.
(will also be available later on the LFL NotesForNourishment channel on YouTube)
Friday June 3rd @ 6:30pm Pacific Time: Pianist Donna Stoering and (renowned) friends: oboist Luca de la Florin, bassoonist Jessica Wiley, cellist Anna Bowman, violist Camille Cole, and special appearance by Ukrainian traditional vocalist.
Donna is playing Chopin and Granados, and collaborating in works by classical composers from countries sheltering Ukrainian refugees; one piece for bassoon and piano is a fun work by a Ukrainian composer. Donna is also creating a medley of Ukrainian traditional melodies, combining all the performers, to end the one hour program.
Live venue: Libby Gardner Concert Hall in Salt Lake City, Utah (7:30pm local time).
Streamed on the LFL NotesForNourishment channel on YouTube.
Saturday June 4th @ 6:30pm Pacific Time (7:30pm local): Same program as Friday night, but without the Ukrainian vocalist guest appearance.
Live venue: Waterford School Concert Hall in Sandy, Utah (7:30pm local time).
Streamed on the LFL NotesForNourishment channel on YouTube.
