The diocesan Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) Local Committee would like to generate interest in Catholic parishes to undertake projects that work to eliminate poverty and injustice in their community. CCHD is the primary program of the U.S. Catholic Bishops for addressing the root causes of poverty and injustice in our country through funding nonprofit groups that enable low-income people to bring about positive change in their lives and in the life of their community. The program funds projects that address conditions of poverty in critical areas such as social and economic development, housing, health care, legal aid, education and communication. For more information about CCHD, please see their website at Catholic Campaign for Human Development | USCCB.
We would like for parish staff and parish groups to take advantage of an opportunity to receive funding from CCHD for social justice projects they are interested in starting or are currently doing. So, we are reaching out to parishes to notify them about these grants. CCHD has money available to fund East Bay groups, including those from parishes, that are engaged in community organizing and/or economic development with low-income residents. Grants for up to $10,000 will be made in October.
Please see the attached request for proposals letter and the application criteria and guidelines. Be sure to review the letter and the guidelines before applying. Also, please forward it to whomever you think might be interested in submitting an application. The deadline for submission of proposals is Tuesday, August 2nd, 2022. For more information and to see if your project would qualify for funding, please contact Marc McKimmey, CCHD Diocesan Coordinator, at [email protected] or at 510-768-3176.
