"I was in prison and you visited me." Mt 25:36.
With the lifting of the pandemic restrictions, the Catholic Detention Ministry is able to once again carry out our mission to reveal God’s message of unconditional love and mercy to people incarcerated in the East Bay and their families.
We provide services at adult and juvenile detention facilities. Detention ministers serve inmates by offering and facilitating Catholic religious services, including weekly Liturgy and Communion services, access to sacraments (Holy Mass, Reconciliation), reflections based on scripture, and one-on-one or group spiritual counseling to only mention a few. The minimum commitment is once a month for about 2 hours.
Training is provided for all who are interested in this ministry.
